Wednesday, July 17, 7-9pm
At the Center for Sex & Culture, 1349 Mission
$20/person

Without a doubt one of the most overlooked erotic skills is kissing. But we LOVE kissing! Queerdom, being more sexually sophisticated than straightdom, can overlook kissing because we have figured out so many other things to do and can’t wait to get to them. Understandable, but kissing to too good to not develop our skills in it, just like we do with all the other sexy things on the menu.
This will be a “lips-on" how-to workshop where you will be guided through a series of techniques and skills. Come enjoy this fun and hot 2 hour make-out session. This will be playful and sexy so come either with a kissing partner(s) or come prepared to be organized into kissing circles which will rotate. Fun for the whole FAMILY!

Please bring a bottle of water to keep your lips lubricated.
Tracy Bartlett has been offering a variety of sex workshops in hipster sex shops, alternative gatherings, colleges, and universities for over 15 years. She has a BA in Women’s Studies and an MS in Counseling.  Her background includes 20 years of experiential education which makes her workshops fun and engaging.

At its most obvious and simplistic, consent is recognizable as ‘yes’ and ‘no’. But what about more subtle, complex, or non-verbal language? In a society where dominant social narratives infect interpersonal relationships, being able to assert and recognize consent is a vital but often overlooked skill.
In this participatory, strategic, and embodied workshop, we will us popular education tools to assess what consent looks, feels, and sounds like. Participants will leave the workshop with experience-based criteria to recognize when they are in a non/consenting situation and specific skills in language to engender consent in both intimate relationships and daily life.

elizaBeth Simpson has been working with the conflicts and group dynamics of communities, organizations, and individuals for over 16 years. She is also a performance artist who incorporates vocal composition, puppetry, street theater, and storytelling. She specializes in collaborative projects with people who would not call themselves “Artists.”

Doing your Dirty Work Two: a Sampler of Contemporary Art About Sex
(Closing Reception Friday August 30, 7 – 10 pm)

Despite San Francisco’s reputation for a sexually frank and diverse culture, art dealing with sexuality is as marginalized here as anywhere. The theme of our second annual juried show is much the same as the mission of the CSC gallery; to provide a space for work that addresses sexuality and sexual identity and upholds a high standard of artistic merit. â€¨â€¨Doing Your Dirty Work aims to stand as evidence that art about sex is every bit as valid, complex, compelling, beautiful, ugly and sophisticated as art ever is. Our call for submissions, expressing this simple notion, generated hundreds of responses from all over the country. Many, as expected, were submissions from artists whose sexual work is excluded from their otherwise successful careers. Many were from artists whose careers are limited by the sexual content of their work.

We have selected art that runs from comical to carnivorous and from haute to hairy. Like The Center for Sex and Culture itself, there is something for almost everyone.
Dorian Katz, Curator

Artists: Andrea Fogt, Anna Maria Pinaka, Anna Zusman, Angus Henderson, Ariel Durrant, Audrey Schmidt, Carol Queen, Celso, Colette Standish, Cricket, Dan Bethune, Danny Beck, David Steinberg, Elizabeth Leger, Gabrielle Wilson-Sealy, George Dinhaupt, Jon Macy, JoJo Mendoco, Jose Kessler, Karen Thomas, Kerry Kelly, Lynn Colingham, Michael Biello, Oli Rodriguez, Phil Sayers, Rocky Angel, Scott Horsely, Shayna Why, Stephanie Ross, Suzanne Schifflett, Wendy Mukluk, Wesley Fanelli, Xxavier Carter

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION —
“Tea with a Twist” (or How to Host a Kinky Tea Party)
by Ms Margaret and slave Erich
Who says a tea party must be a stuffy, conservative affair?
Kinky tea parties are a fun way to experience D/s and service in a pleasant and readily available setting – the comfort of your own home!

In this overview presentation, you’ll learn about kinky tea party planning and implementation. We will include a bit of history about tea in general, plus some recommended resources, tools and a few real-world tips for hosting your own “tea with a twist." If time permits we will also share a few tea samples, offer a bit of “show & tell" in regards to a few useful tools and share a brief demo of the “NorCal Tea Society" style of service. ( www.twistedteas.org/)

(Please Note: This is _NOT_ a class about traditional Asian / Japanese ritual “tea ceremony." The information we convey is intended to help you host a modern-day tea party, tailored to fit your specific needs and with a “twist" of kink added.)

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS —
Ms. Margaret (aka MsKitNboots) began her kinky explorations in the mid-1990s and calls the San Francisco South Bay Area home. She has served on the board of directors for smOdyssey, Inc and as co-coordinator for smOdyssey education. For five years she was the education coordinator for the annual FolsomFringe conference (2003 – 2007) and currently serves as the executive producer for Northwest Leather Celebration (NWLC), host of the Northwest Master/slave contest. Together she and slave Erich were honored with the Jack Stice Community Award at South Plains Leatherfest 2011.

 CSC co-sponsors …

“The Campaign” premiered at the Frameline LGBTQ film festival last month, and is an inspiring documentary about the No on 8 Campaign and the reinvigorating of the LGBTQ equality movement. The ACLU has partnered with them to host an event on the evening of  Wednesday, July 17th at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland —474 24th St, Oakland, California 94612.

The ACLU’s primary goal with this event is to ensure that the momentum towards equality continues after our double-victory in the Supreme court last month. We have been a leader on the LGBT equality front since 1970, and continue to work for  equality through marriage, education equity for LGBTQ students, and specific cases related to trans rights, but we need to ensure that everyone is fired up and ready to continue the good fight (especially the fight that extends beyond marriage).

Tickets are $20/individual and $30/couple.

There will be a Q&A with the filmmakers at the event, and a small resource fair for advocates and community members to mix and mingle.

PRIDE DAY OPEN HOUSE:

FAIROAKS PROJECT CLOSING AND LIBRARY BOOK SALE!

Fairoaks Project Closing Reception June 30, 2013 1-4 pm
Frank Melleno’s Polaroid photography captured an extraordinary glimpse into pre-AIDS gay sexual culture. Melleno was part-owner and night manager of The Fairoaks Hotel, a unique San Francisco bathhouse operating from 1977 to 1979. His candid images are remarkable, documenting the social and sexual behavior with celebration and no apology.

The Fairoaks was owned and operated by a gay commune, lending a counter-culture approach to the establishment. There were monthly theme parties including costume and “Open Door” parties, when room doors would be removed from hinges. Many images contain nudity and erotic scenes.

The restored images, known as The Fairoaks Project, were well received at Los Angeles venues Highways and drkrm/Gallery. The Advocate and Lambda Literary have written articles on The Fairoaks Project.

You won’t want to miss this ground-breaking, free-wheeling conversation with four of our most respected and beloved members of the fisting, BDSM, leather and kink scene in the San Francisco Bay area and beyond!
We are honored to have four highly respected men join us for tonight’s topic, “Ask-the-Expert." During tonight’s moderated panel discussion, our panel members will field all questions thrown their way by you, our audience. Nothing is pre-screened, pre-arranged or pre-determined. Our panelists truly believe that the only dumb questions are the ones that aren’t asked!
You have three options in bringing questions to our panel:
  1. Grab the mic and ask your questions of the panel directly from the floor;
  2. Write your question on a card that night which will be read to the panel by the moderator; or,
  3. Submit your question(s) in advance byEMAIL(click the link to be directed to your email server).
About the Panelists:
Mr. Allan is well known in the Bay Area leather community for his work with Alameda County Leather Corps, and as a coach in the Handball Academy’s Novice Workshops. He’s been involved with fisting since 1982, and advocates “organic play"—that is, fisting wiithout the use of alcohol, drugs, or poppers. At the Handball Academy, Mr. Allan specializes in teaching tantric breathing and massage techniques for anal relaxation. Aside from his Handball Academy work, Mr. Allan also teaches “Fisting 101" to a variety of groups. He lives in an open/poly relationship with his husband Randy, who he legally married in Vancouver BC in 2003.  Professionally, Mr. Allan has worked in the Information Technology field since 1980, as a systems architect, network engineer, and technical trainer. He regularly presents classes at industry technical conferences, conducts onsite training for customers, and sets in-house standards for systems documentation. His collected writings on fisting and sexplay can be found online at http://ethicalslut.livejournal.com
Ed Ehrgotthas walked many paths in life. In 2004, after more than 20 years in the tech world, he realized that he needed a change and started a journey of aligning his passions with his work. Currently, he exercises his right brain as a bodyworker and sex coach in San Francisco. In this capacity, Ed helps men experience a holistic view of embodiment that integrates our erotic energies with all aspects of who we are. He helps men explore their curiosities about kink in a safe and sane manner.
Ed keeps his left brain occupied as a web developer and all around technogeek. This intentional combination of right and left brain helps Ed communicate embodiment in a language that most people find approachable and easy to understand.
Ed has been a facilitator at many kink events locally and throughout the country. He is the lead facilitator at Kinky Camp at Easton Mountain in New York state – a weeklong exploration of conscious and intentional kink. He also facilitates ‘Mindful Self Loving,’ a monthly erotic practice in San Francisco for men to explore new ways to express their solo erotic energies. Ed is active in the bear and leather world and is a speaker at SF Ring – a biweekly discussion on various types of kink play.
There’s much more information about the different sides of Ed available on his websites atwww.sacredtouchformen.comandwww.tekpals.com.
Cullen Frandsenhas over a decade of experience with personal growth and healing bodywork techniques. He has a passion for intimate connection, and over the last 5 years he has incorporated these skills into his leather lifestyle and love of BDSM.

He is a co-founder of the Black Leather Wings tribe, and was a contributing author in the definitive anthology LeatherFolk by Mark Thompson and The Divine Androgyne by Purusha.

His focus is on adult remedial sex education and he is known as a hands-on theorist who designs sex education praxis and is a specialist in anatomy and sensation. He has produced and designed safer sex education events of many kinds, and has been active as a sex educator since 1973 with more formal training as one of the early safe sex educators from the San Francisco model from around1980.

But after 15 years, his mainstream life took a few dramatic turns and he found himself a gay book publisher in San Francisco and a dedicated student of Zen.

Over 14 years in San Francisco, Bert edited and published 18 books, authoring two of them. His book, TRUST/The Hand Book: A Guide to the Sensual and Spiritual Art of Handballing, combined Bert’s years of experience and knowledge of fisting with his mystical insights as a Zen Buddhist.

Today, Bert and his life partner Guy have a bed & breakfast and spiritual sanctuary in the Manzano  Mountains of New Mexico, escaping in the winters to the sunny island of Maui.

Sex Workers’ Writing Workshop  (usually 2nd Saturday of Every Month), 2-4pm

March 9th, 2013

Center for Sex and Culture: 1349 Mission St. San Francisco, CA

Cost: Sliding scale $10-$20 (more if you can, less if you can’t, **nobody turned away** — if you’re broke you should still come write with us! - 2nd Saturday of Every Month)

Workshop facilitated by Gina de Vries.

This is a writing workshop for current and former sex workers to share their writing and get honest, non-judgmental feedback. Workshop participants are not obligated to write exclusively about sex work, but writing about work in the sex industry (as well as writing about other topics) will be welcomed. This is a place where people can write and share about their sex work experiences without having to censor themselves or explain every detail. Beginning writers are encouraged to attend along with more seasoned wordsmiths.

Sex Workers’ Writing Workshop is all-genders. We define the term “sex worker” broadly, as people who have exchanged erotic labor for money/food/shelter, including but not limited to:

+Street and Survival Sex Workers

+Escorts and Personal Companions

+Sensual Massage and Sensual Body Work Providers

+BDSM workers; pro-dommes, subs, and switches

+Adult Film Actors; Porn Models and Performers; Nude Models; Cam Girls and Boys

+Exotic Dancers; Strippers; and Peep Show Workers

+Phone Sex Operators

+And many other Sex Workers and Adult Entertainers!

(If we’re forgetting your area of the industry in this definition, tell us!)

**Email questions, volunteer inquiries, etc, to queershoulder@gmail.com.

**If wheelchair access is needed, please contact mail@sexandculture.org in advance of workshop.

**While we can’t guarantee a scent-free space, we ask that all attendees please refrain from wearing scented products to ensure that workshop members with chemical sensitivities can attend.

**We ask that our non-sex worker friends, lovers, partners, allies, and clients respect that this space is FOR SEX WORKERS ONLY.
